Magento announce key developments to the platform
On 25th April 2018 Magento announced key advances to the platform’s checkout process and payment capabilities.
The leading ecommerce platform has made changes to the way in which payments are processed and shared new integration options with Amazon Pay, Klarna and Vertex to improve the user’s experience during checkout.
Magento announced the latest updates at their 8th annual Imagine conference where Dennis Koptiz, director of eCommerce commented:
“We are always on the lookout for innovative solutions to drive conversion rates. With Magento and Amazon Pay, we now have a powerful and flexible commerce solution coupled with a faster checkout experience. The integration with Amazon Pay has helped us expand our online business and capture more sales. Our customers appreciate how easy it is to log into our store and complete a purchase – it’s been a critical part of our online growth.”
What are the key changes?
The key takeaways from the announcement from Magento all surround the speed of the checkout process. The latest release offers integrations that create an improved checkout experience through more payment options that increase conversion rates and drive repeat custom.
For example, the new option to integrate Vertex and Magento Shipping aims to minimise basket abandonment as order total and shipping costs are updated during the checkout process – so no surprise costings that may result in the customer leaving the site before purchasing.
A new partnership with Amazon Pay also means that the user can automatically add their payment and shipping details from their Amazon account which expediates the purchasing process.
Another of the major changes is the integration with Klarna which enables users to pay for their products in instalments or with a credit option, which improves accessibility for many users and improves overall user journey and experience.
The new release also brings some updates that will help merchants to understand their customers behaviours such as enhanced business intelligence. Other key changes also include new cloud capabilities, performance initiatives (such as flash sales) and simplified deployment.
